Lisburn Downtown Centre - Level 3

Pharmacy Partner:
Boots

Project summary

The Lisburn Downtown Centre was established in September 1988 to develop people's social networks and help them to deal with spiritual, social, physical and mental health needs.  The activities on offer  cater for the whole community and are specific to the individual/groups needs for example, those with learning disabilities, mental health issues, carers, the general public and senior citizens. They have completed four level two projects in partnership with Boots at Sprucefield in which they worked with  a number of groups and other organisations/agencies.

In this level three project they worked towards prevention rather than reacting to issues as and when they emerge which will enable service users' to make positive changes to their physical and mental health.  There will be four core groups, those with a learning disability, mental health issues, older people and those more difficult to engage with.

The overall aim of the programme was to empower the members of the Welcome Club, Drop in Centre and Friday Group by giving them the tools to help bring about changes into their lives.  By bringing in other community partners and industry experts to give advice on relevant topics a broad network of support becomes available to centre members.
