CDHN awards BCPP funding to 13 ‘lucky’ groups!

Community Development and Health Network (CDHN) is delighted to announce the 13 successful applicants in the latest round of Level 2 funding for the Building the Community-Pharmacy Partnership (BCPP) programme. 

BCPP is a partnership between CDHN and the Health and Social Care Board. The programme aims to promote and support local communities to work in partnership with community pharmacists to address local health and social wellbeing needs using a community development approach.

BCPP projects are very diverse and engage with many different communities on a variety of issues such as poverty, bereavement, mental and physical health. The programme brings people, communities and pharmacy together to achieve positive change using their own knowledge, skills and lived experience around issues they face in their own lives.

The groups to benefit from the funding are as follows:

  • Ballybogey Over 50s Club, Coleraine
  • Bellaghy Women’s Group
  • Depaul, Belfast
  • Dunloy Development Association
  • Fermanagh Sports & Cultural Awareness, Ballinamallard
  • Hillcrest Trust, Derry/L’derry
  • The Brain Injury Foundation, Camlough
  • The Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group, Derry/L’derry
  • Tullygarley & District Residents’ Association, Ballymena
  • Waterside Women’s Centre, Derry/L’derry
  • Women’s Centre, Derry//L’derry
  • Workspace, Draperstown
  • 21 Bridge Club, Scarva

Applications were diverse in this round but all were committed to delivering community based partnership programmes which aimed to improve understanding and wellbeing, build relationships, tackle inequalities and have a long term positive impact. One of the projects planned to increase health awareness and support for pregnant women, mothers and babies while another planned to work with men and increase awareness of the impact social factors has on their health.

The next Level 1 funding round is due to close on 2 May with Level 2 funding closing on 7 November 2019.  Application packs are available from www.cdhn.org/bcpp
