Fermanagh and Omagh 2030 Community Plan: action plan

This is the first overarching Community Plan for the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area, co-designed and collaborated by key stakeholders from the public, private and community and voluntary sectors, as well as the wider community during 2015-2016. The three overarching themes are People and Communities, Economy, Infrastructure and Skills, and the Environment, with useful local data infographics. The plan uses an Outcomes Based Accountability approach.

Health Literacy as a Public Health Goal: a challenge for contemporary health education and commnication strategies

Don Nutbeam's paper identifies the failings of past educational programs to address social and economic determinants of health, and traces the subsequent reduction in the role of health education in contemporary health promotion. A health outcome model for health promotion is presented that highlights health literacy is a key outcome of health promotion. The paper sets out a Model of Health Literacy that has three levels; Functional, Interactive and Critical, that how it can lead to empowerment.
